‘THE BATTLE OF EAST VS WEST’ AT OCCC

Olongapo City is again all set for the fight of Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao in the highly anticipated match on May 2 (May 3 Philippine time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In what has become a tradition, Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. has arranged for the free screening of Pacquiao’s fight, who will face British boxer Ricky Hatton in “The Battle of East vs West" on Sunday May 3, 2009 at Olongapo City Convention Center (OCCC).

The two boxing superstars will match skills where the winner will take home the Ring Magazine 140 lbs. belt and International Boxing Organization light-welterweight championship belt currently held by Hatton.

Mayor Gordon instructed Manny Pacquiao Fight coordinator and City Dentist Dr. Donald Vigo to set-up giant screens including seventeen (17) LCDs and two (2) projectors courtesy of Ocampo’s Mall. Colorview Catv is sponsoring the airing via HBO pay per view.

It can be recalled that more than five thousand (5,000) Olongapeños of all ages were able to watch Pacman’s previous triumph against the boxing legend Oscar dela Hoya held last December 2008 similarly through the free screening at the Olongapo City Convention Center.
